Take These 3 Things With You On Your First Whitewater Rafting Trip

If you are getting ready to go on your first white water rafting trip, you want to make sure that you take everything that you need so that you are as ready as possible. So, what should you take with you when you go on your trip?

Dry Bags

One of the things that you should take with you on your trip is dry bags. These bags are resealable and designed to be watertight. Anything you put in them should stay dry. The bags should also float if they do go over the side or if your raft capsizes. You may want to make sure that you get brightly colored bags so that you can easily see them if anything happens. That way you aren't going to lose anything that is in the bag.

Sturdy Shoes

You also want to make sure that you have some sturdy shoes to wear on your trip. You may have the urge to wear something like flip flops, but those aren't a good idea for a couple of reasons. One is that they tend to not be as sturdy as you really need. The other is that they are likely to get lost if you go over the side. If you want to wear sandals, get ones with thick soles with adequate traction and straps. The thick soles and traction will let you walk in slippery and rocky conditions, while the straps will keep your sandals from coming off in the water. You might also want to consider wearing sneakers or wet boots. If you do that, you may want to take more than one pair so that you can have a dry pair to wear when you aren't on the raft.

Swimsuit/Shorts/T-shirt

You also want to have shorts, t-shirts, or swimsuits that will dry quickly. You are going to get wet, there's no chance of that not happening, even if you never go over the side. That means that you want to wear clothes that you don't mind getting wet and that will dry quickly. If your trip is going to be multiple days and you are going to camp at night, make sure that you have dry clothes to put on when you get to camp so that you can put your rafting clothes out to dry.
